Anatolia

Anatolia, also known as Asia Minor, is a large peninsula in Western Asia and the westernmost protrusion of the Asian continent. It is essentially modern-day Turkey. The ancient people spoke the Anatolian languages of the Indo-European language family (replaced by the Greek language during classical antiquity as well as during the Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods). Classic antiquity

Classical antiquity (also the classical era, classical period and classical age) – time period between 8th century BC and 6th century AD. Centered on the Mediterranean Sea, geared around ancient Greece and ancient Rome, also known as the Greco-Roman world. Both societies flourished and had influence throughout Europe, Northern Africa and Western Asia. Link.

  • Late antiquity – transition from classical antiquity to the late Middle Ages in Europe and nearby areas bordering the Mediterranean Basin. Period duration is loosely between 3rd and 8th centuries BC.

Revolutions

Neolithic Revolution

(10,000 BC) – or the first agricultural revolution – where hunter gatherers moved onto agriculture and settlement, making larger populations possible. Other developments during this era are the domestication of animals, pottery, polished stone tools and rectangular houses.
